Minutes from the July 30, 2007
meeting of Hudson Valley Wine and Grape Association
1. Formal nomination of new officers: secretary and
treasurer. Nominations and elections were held. Colleen M. Hughes
was elected secretary, and Marie-Claire Huygen was elected treasurer. They
were the only nominees, and were elected unanimously
2. Development of possible
committees. Committee to incorporate the organization: Mike Migliore,
John Hudelson, Others~ Mike reported that the advantage of a 501.6c
structure for the organization is that the organization can apply for
grants and get credit, and get insurance.. A lawyer will be needed to do
the work, and Mike has found Kelly Travor of Gilbert and Kline who
will do the work for $850. The phone is 845-454-3250. John Bruno had a
question about the additional cost that being a 501.6C would incur. We
felt that once the work had been done, upkeep of the designation would not
be costly.
3. Membership Committee: Dominique
Divito, Steven McKay, Monica Pennings~ The committee will set up a
process for how to process memberships, communications for new members,
benefits list, and a procedure to accept credit cards and checks. Steven
offered the use of his credit card machine until the organization can get
their own. Memberships will be annual beginning on January 1.
4. Hudson Heritage Wine Committee:
Hans Huygen and others~ The committee will publish the parameters
developed for the white and red wines. A label for quality assurance, a
press package, a marketing plan, and a quality review panel may be made.
5. 2008 4th Annual Wine
Competition/Awards Celebration Comittee: John Hudelson, Colleen Hughes and
others~ Possible date is May 17/18 for the awards dinner. Ben Marl is
being studied as the possible site. Others thought that the CIA (as in the
first year's) would be a better venue.
6. Process of incorporating
into not-for-profit. (referred to committee)
7. Trademark of the Hudson Heritage
White and rules surrounding its production, application for use and
protection (maybe a moot point, but how far > >do we go to protect this
name?). (The question was referred to committee.)
